LORETTE SINGER, GUITAR PLAYER AND SONGWRITER

Loretta grew up in Northern California moving 17 times around between Eureka, Ukiah, Crescent City and Red Bluff. She began writing poetry as a child and wanting to put her poems to music she learned guitar and banjo at age 14. She taught herself and her first guitar was from the Blue Chip Stamps grocery stamps that her mother had saved up. Needless to say, that first guitar was practically unplayable, but she persevered. She worked as a log scaler and a waitress for a while then she recorded her first recording at Solar Tip recording studio in Blue Lake (Eureka) CA and played out with a trio for the college crowds at Humboldt State University and clubs in town.
She is the founding member of her original band “Lorelei” and was the guitar player and singer songwriter. She played in the Eureka area with the drummer Eddie Fickett and Tim Gaines on bass. Playing clubs like Walts Friendly Tavern and The Rose. Later she and the drummer moved to Los Angeles to play the Whiskey, the Troubadour and other LA clubs as well as Mabuhay Gardens in San Francisco and The Cuckoo's Nest in Orange County and The Rock in Van Nuys, CA. She also opened up for Black Flag in the bay area and played Long Beach along with the Stingers, a local new wave band.
She auditioned for Carol McConkey Artists in Hollywood CA (the first agent for the Standells) agency later as a solo artist and was chosen to open a hot new Club “The Wine Bar” in Tokyo Japan and she played solo there for a year. Upon returning to Los Angeles she had still not been signed as a music artist so she retreated from playing out and she raised a family and worked as a legal secretary. But, she never stopped playing and writing songs. Now she is back to playing solo and songwriting and singing. Her roots are rock, country and traditional and she can play 5 string banjo, harmonica, piano and guitar. She writes and has had her songs produced by some great Los Angeles producers in 2024 and is writing a rock opera as well. She is available for gigging playing covers (rock and/or country) or all original (rock or country)!
